GOP candidates for lt. gov. to hold TV debate | www.statesman.com

"DALLAS — The four Republican candidates vying to be Texas lieutenant governor — a post considered to be the most powerful in the state — are getting their first televised chance to win over voters.

"Dallas public television station KERA is hosting an hour-long debate at 8 p.m. Monday.

"Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst is facing one of the toughest re-election bids of his career. His three challengers for the GOP nomination are Houston Sen. Dan Patrick, Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson and Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples.
The lieutenant governor's power comes from presiding over the Texas Senate, appointing the committee chairs and shaping what legislation makes it to a vote. The governor can veto a bill, but the lieutenant governor can decide if a proposed law makes it to the governor's desk."

I plan on listening on the radio or watching online. Not sure what the polls are saying. Political debates and the Olympics are about the only time i miss not having TV.

    I'm listening on radio.

    First question:

First goes to Patterson with a quick kill on Abortion.

Patterson +4 (bringing up the personal vs state issue. All others just talked about their opposition and did not bring up the state roll)

    All others +0

Patterson just said he's for campus and OPEN carry.

"It's about liberty...a citizen who cannot carry a firearm isn't much of a citizen, frankly, he's a serf!"
