So here's my question. Say you are heading out for the day to a place where you cannot bring your firearm. Do you still drive with it and leave you weapon in the car? Or do you leave it at home? Thanks for the input in advance.
I take it with me, and leave it in the car. I know, it's at risk for getting stolen if my car is stolen, or broken into, but i'd rather risk that than needing the gun and not having it. My life is more valuable than the gun...
Ditto.
Lock box bolted/cabled to the vehicle. Won't stop a theft, but will slow them down enough to possibly get caught or give up.

This plus if it's a car/SUV and you bolt that lockbox in the trunk, behind spare tire/car jack interior panels or something like that, it would be in about the least convenient possible place for the typical thief. Most are probably going to smash a window in, crowbar the dash and grab the stereo, check the center console and glovebox as well as anything else immediately convenient, and try to get out within a few seconds. Anything longer is too much of a risk for them. Just think about places that are not immediately obvious or quick to access.

This. Picked up a GunVault NV200 at Gander Mtn for ~$35 because I can't carry into work.
How sturdy is it? Do you think it adds any extra protection over a standard locking glove box?
A balsa wood box has extra protection over your standard glove box. Glove boxes are so easy to break into that it's not even funny. Stick a screw driver or blade over the latch and pry slightly and most will open without any extraneous effort.
