In an effort to combat spammers I have adjusted the usergroup files to deny Private Messaging ability to users with fewer than 5 posts. This means for new members, or lurkers you will need to make 5 posts in order to use the PM function.

As a side bonus I have increased the limits on the signature size for those whom have more than 5 posts.

If you make your 5th post and cannot PM people, be aware that the system auto-promotes every hour. I apologize for the wait.

I will monitor it for a while to make sure it is working properly.

    Thanks

As a new member I have been wondering why I wasn't able to use the pm feature even though it looked like it should be working due to the user options features. I think this should be noted in there that it takes 5 posts to work. Just something I thought of.

Have never noticed requirements like this on other forums I frequent.

It came about because spambots would register and send PMs to people.
