So, in private conversation say "screw (politician)", and someone overhears this and reports me. I get a special visit that will most likely lead to me talking to govt.quacks, and probably having to spend a ton of money on a lawyer to try and get my record cleared.

I'm looking at this from a different perspective. I founded, then ran, a Crime Stopper program and was on the Board of a Major Crime Stopper unit. It's surprising how it really works. Of course, we get tips from good citizens telling on crooks. More often than not, we get tips from one crook trashing another. For instance, one drug seller could put his competition out of business. A gang could snuff a rival gang with a tip. They warn you about that in training.

A smart operator of the program for "dial a nut" would do well to investigate the caller, too. A disgruntled member of a bomb making cell may call about his bomber buddies. A gang member wanting to make a power play could take out the current gang leader with a "crazy call". The bottom line is that not all "dial a nut" callers are innocent themselves.

Coincidentally, my oldest daughter is reading Orwell's '1984' for school. I printed this out and stuck it between the pages of the book - I'm hoping she'll ask about it.

The problem here is not criminals. The problem is people (Libs) who think anyone who doesn't like the current administration or anyone who owns a gun is a hazard to society. Hell, they call us racists merely because we don't agree with his policies. Imagine what they will do with this.

    That's pretty F'ed up.

Gonna go great with O's push for expanding mental health checks on firearms purchases. Wonder if it will be tied in with the NICS.

“What does it hurt to have somebody knock on a door and ask, ‘Hey, is everything OK?’ ”

Right. I'm sure that's all that would happen, especially if the individual tells the cops to go f**k themselves.

So, in private conversation say "screw (politician)", and someone overhears this and reports me. I get a special visit that will most likely lead to me talking to govt.quacks, and probably having to spend a ton of money on a lawyer to try and get my record cleared.

Exactly the point. I am not shy in expressing my disgust at the current administration and all the bullshit they've pulled. I've had several libiturds call me a racist because I object to their Messiah and his drooling Socialist/Marxist minions. So if this were to become a nationwide program, anyone who disagrees with Obastard, AssHolder or any of the other dipshits currently in office could get that "knock on the door" by the jack-booted Thought Police.
