    I don't see why it has to cost any more than a drivers license... Let people study on their own if they want and just come in for the test. Hell, the test could even be taken on the DMV's computers like a drivers license. The background check can be done online for $4.

    I'm all for not requiring a CHL at all, however.

    I'm of the opinion that even the background check is pointless. Bad guys don't have to submit a form before bugying a weapon. they don't have to pay FFL fees when they transfer a weapon. They don't have to take a test before using a weapon. Why should *I* have to do all that crap?

    Boiled down to its essence, I think these questions amount to "why should we restrict only the rights of people who are good enough to follow the law?"
