The Good: The head of the DC police--D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier--chastised Detective Michael Bayor's actions and took his firearm and badge away pending further investigation. He is currently assigned to desk duty.
The Bad: The D.C. police union is decrying the police chief's public criticism of a detective for pulling a gun during a snowball fight. Union chief Kristopher Baumann said Tuesday it's questionable whether Baylor will get a fair and unbiased investigation by the department. He said Lanier should wait for the investigation to close before passing judgment.
Give me a break! Anyone who watched the video can clearly see that Baylor overreacted and pulled his weapon on civilians who were only throwing snowballs at his Hummer. At least the uniform officer had a reason to pull his duty weapon, he was responding to a 911 call of a man with a gun (which turned out to be Baylor). Once he identified the detective, he secured his weapon.
The only reason Baylor won't get a favorable judgment from the investigation is because there is so much evidence to prove what he did wrong!
We should ban snow, and increase greenhouse gases to decrease snowball fight related violence NOW! Hurry up and think about the children! Maybe D.C. should ban their cops from carrying firearms also.
