Asteroid 2012 DA14 to sweep close on February 15, 2013
This baby is coming even closer than the last 'bullet graze' in December of last year. 2012 XE54, which was discovered Sunday (Dec. 9), came within 140,000 miles (230,000 kilometers) of our planet. The latest asteroid will flyby between the Earth and geosynchronous orbit satellites, which orbit at 22,500 miles, at 17,000 miles. THAT is close.
So, on 15 Feb, remember to duck.
