When I had it professionally appraised I was told it had some type of nanotechnology lubrication embedded in the metal and that further lubrication was not advised.

Actually, Carlos Hathcock used a Winchester Model 70 Target Model in 30-06 on his first tour in Vietnam, then his second tour, he use a heavy barreled Remington Model 700 in 308.
