I ordered a Hogue grip for my 941 only to realize it was for the 9mm/.40 modeel (do'h) I really liked the look and feel of it, but couldn't seem to find it for the .45 frame. Neither Hogue nor pachmyer make a grip specific to the .45 frame.
Well the good news is that after considerable trimming, I got the 9mm/.40 grip to fit. Not only does it fit, but it looks/feels good. There are only 2 areas of concern asthetically: The top of the back of the grip and the enlarged mounting hole. I'm not too concerned about the first, and plan to countersink therubber and use a washer to remedy the second.
Here's the stock version for reference:
And mine with a custom Hogue grip:
Note the original location of the mounting hole vs where the bolt actually goes:
Front looks good:
Backside:
Areas that required trimming:
Plastic parts on the inside top (front/back) and bottom (back only) You will also neeed to shave off about 1/16" off the back lip to make clearance for the magazine.
IN hindsight, i would have drilled a new mounting hole rather than shave/grind my way into thee new one, but overall i'm happy with the end result
