I have a German 8mm Mauser that my Dad left for me when he passed away. It is in really nice condition. He used it for elk hunting back in the day.
I would like to know a good Gunsmith in Dallas area (that is good and fair) to maybe inspect it before I start using it.

Check with the new range/gun store in Frisco. They checked out an old Czech Mauser I got at an estate sale and so far no issues.

If not already, research the history on those Mausers. Interesting piece of machinery...

The Mauser I have actually has the insignias on it indicating the Austrian factory it was made in.
And from a historical perspective, and nothing more, it had a few swastikas punched on the reciever.
Had someone reblue it for me and they buffed out the swastikas.
Needless to say I didnt pay him.
    Thanks for the info.
