The article reports on the government's desire to have all adults checked for depression. Gee, I wonder what the gubmint might do with a diagnosis like that.

If you're already on SSRI's. You've already been diagnosed. I'd expect a letter in the mail saying no guns for you.

The American Psychology Association (always quick to look at ways to drive more people to the services of a Psychologist) is fully supporting the idea.

You can read the PDF and see that they are licking their lips at the thought of mandatory screening, referrals, and increased revenue.

I am an 18hr non-degree PSYC graduate student. There is an economic crisis throughout the country, psychologists are always looking for more income streams. This is not so much a dark and insidious plan to take guns, as it is a way to increase revenue streams.

Don't forget... health insurance i s required now, so, you can bet that a required psyc screening is about dipping their cookie in to that government milk. Referral fees, office visits.

This is the wet-dream of the APA and its members. Requiring 300 million (give or take) people to receive mental health services.

Being old and approaching the end of the trail does have a few advantages! I'd rather be dead than to live in a system where every facet of my life was under the control of some asxwipe politician.

The same question keeps being asked at TGT. "Would you fight when they come to take your guns?" A truth table can be easily set up to assist in that decision:

*Have my guns, spend my retirement shooting and reloading, croaking and leaving this mess to the next generation ......... Acceptable!
*Getting my guns confiscated without a whimper.............. Unacceptable!
*Being blown to shxt during a firefight in defense of my home, dog and firearms................ Acceptable!
*Living under the total control of Socialist, Liberal Dimwits.................. Unacceptable!

Tough choice, huh?

Been retired for about 5 years. Our rulers would play Hell proving that I was depressed. I've taken vacations where I had more fun for a short period of time like the trip I made with a beauty named Laura. We were SCUBA diving every day in Cozumel, Mexico!

In retirement, I've never had so much fun for an extended period of time. Depressed? HA!

Damn, this is great! If it ended today, I'd draw my last breath with a smile!
