Fox just interviewed him. He fully supports concealed carry. He states criminals fear an armed populace. He states that research shows arming the citizenry lowers violent crime.

I will see if Fox has a link up yet.

He started his career as a baby cop in Detroit, then moved on to California. By the time he got to Maine, he was indoctrinated that guns are bad. Crime was low in Maine, CCWs were plentiful, and he was "inclined" to deny applications. He paid attention and realized the CCW was a good thing, and he changed his POV.

Now if only Michigan would get rid of the mandatory handgun registration (especially the part where you need to explain to a "gun board" why you want the damn pistol). That's the only reason I won't be getting my pistols from dad. Not worth the hassle.

That said, not at all surprised at his stance. Used to live in Saginaw (Michigan, not Texas, 2002 until mid-2012, during which time "SagiNasty" ranked #1 on the FBI's Violent Cities list two years in a row), close enough to the bad part of town that I head gunshots every couple nights. Nine times outta ten, turn on the morning news, there's a story about some kid getting shot. Most of the time, the gun turned out to be illegal outright, stolen, or "borrowed" from the shooter's parents.

This is very good news for us! I might also add that as Liberals keep bashing gun owners, CHL holders and people friendly gun laws, guns sales remain high. People are arming themselves every day and the more Liberals vomit their Obama lines, the better those statistics get for us. OK, it's a pain to have shortages but major causes of the shortages are related to millions of new gun owners!

This is a tough and frustrating time for gun owners but we are seeing many positive changes! Even in Colorado where gun owners were dumped on, the backlash in recall elections were beautiful things to see. Seeing Obama's gun control agendas get slapped down by Congress was one of my favorite events of 2013.

That was one of the main points I got out of his interview. He got suckered by the attitude in the Peoples' Socialist Яepublik of Kalifornia and really wasn't a supporter of an armed populace UNTIL he got to Maine and saw the truth ... that truth being that armed citizens DO reduce the crime rate.

I wish more leaders had the stones to do what this man did. He went through an entire transition, had the guts & integrity to study, to learn and to make changes for the better. Then he said something about it, on a national stage, with everybody watching.

I commend this man and thank him for coming forward. I hope his action and voice can be the start of better things for Detroit. Lord knows they need someone to give a spark and help put them back together again. It only takes one.
