Got to ask, how hard is it for a dog to tree a squirrel? There's got to be more involved than a dog chasing a squirrel up a tree right? Did he retrieve it as well?

Really not trying to be an a$$ but please educate me so I can be impressed as well.

A good treeing dog will range out in the woods ahead of you a find a squirrel by smell or sight. Once he finds he he will start barking on the tree it went up to let you know where it is. He then has to watch the squirrel to make sure it doesn't limb out. Some will retrieve but I have never bothered with that because the squirrel usually falls straight down when I shoot.

Got a Shepard mix that used to bring rabbits to the back door all the time. Pretty sneaky dog, for being bright white lol

I figured that was the "Uncle Eddie" you were referring to, but my sense of humor is shot, lately...

I haven't eaten squirrel since I was a kid, but I do remember it tasting like dark meat chicken.
