Don't buy a cheap laptop power supply from amazon!

A few days ago, we were on vacation and I left my power supply at the hotel room. Rather than wait for them to mail it back to me, I ordered a new knock off from Amazon with 1 day shipping. It gets here and I plug it into my laptop which immediately begins smoking. It's now dead and repair shop is telling me it's toast, better to buy a new one. So now I'm out a $1000 (i7, 16gb, 17", NVidia gaming system).... all because I bought a cheap knockoff power supply.

Please beware.

depends on what kind you buy. was yours a direct replacement? I have bought 4 for my $1500 laptop since I travel most of the year and have never had an issue.

Yes, was supposed to be direct replacement, same voltage/wattage/plug. Stated it was for same model (Lenovo z70). I have used knockoff's before with no problem but this one was obviously defective and I paid a high price.

i dont buy anything on amazon without reading reviews. I typically loom at all the 1&2 star reviews and look for trends..

Not sure how this particular product reviewed, but yeah that sucks.
