One of my friends has an older DPMS .308, bolt catch works perfectly. I have to doubt a design flaw. I also think the bolt catch might be a regular AR15 bolt catch... The bolt and carrier are a bit different, naturally, but it's not exactly a complex system that it'd be hard to get right.
