I'm surprised this didn't get play here - TL;DR is engineering student mounts .22WMR to drone, attaches actuator to pull trigger, videos demo flight and shot and internet goes wild.

Now, Forbes has some reasonable information vs. all the "OMG FAA is going to imprison you for life!" crap that got spewed.

Video linked at bottom of article.

Glad to hear they did their homework and apparently no laws were violated. However, that doesn't mean this and similar incidents won't be used to establish news laws against/restricting hobbyists. Sort of like states limiting magazine capacity to 10rds because of ILLEGAL actions by others.

    Yup.

Someone will get skeered and new rules/regs will come down the pipe that will do nothing to stop irresponsible people but make it a tangled maze for responsible people to remain legal.

    Yep.

The problem with lifting weight is that more weight requires more fuel/energy, which in turn add more weight. Drone propellers being small just don't seem to have the efficiency needed to get that job done well.

They ought to add some custom 6 or 8 blade rotors with a deeper pitch and higher ohm motors...it might lift easier and last a little longer.
