Ford said last year that they expect their EV’s to be profitable by 2026. Not sure how realistic that may or may not be, but if it’s even somewhat close, they will be far ahead of Tesla in that sense. I still won’t buy one, but time will tell if this is really a problem for ford.
The chances of ford's EVs being profitable by 2026 are similar to my odds of winning the lottery during that time.

Maybe, maybe not. If I knew the answer for sure, I’d be loading up on Ford options. I’m just going off of what they said. It’s normal for companies to report losses when they are new, or in this case, in a new division.

A very large investment in a product the majority of buyers don't want, doesn't sound very profitable. If and only if I win the lottery, will I purchase Ford's F150 Lightening. As I don't waste my money on lottery tickets, it's a safe assumption that I won't win.

Very large is relative. Was their investment disproportionally high? I think they missed the mark with the lightning, but the Mach e will probably appeal to more people looking for an electric car. There’s a segment of the population that wants EV’s but doesn’t want to buy a Tesla. As I’ve posted before in this thread, tesla, and EV’s as a whole represent a very small percentage of both vehicles on the road and new vehicle sales. However, Tesla has still recently been profitable, up until I believe this past quarter where they overestimated demand. I won’t buy an electric ford, or any electric vehicle, but I’m also not going to short their stock.
