Well IMO, the Greatest Generation created the Boomers because they saw that having kids in litters instead of pairs would create a good solid base to keep SS running for their benefit. Then while they were still in charge, they robbed SS.
Sometimes folks take me seriously - they're nearly always wrong.Surely that is sarcasm...
I'm amazed at how complacent congress and the American people have become about what was once described as an unsustainable debt that would cause our nation to eventually fail.
I don't even pretend to understand world macroeconomics.
I saw this analogy six or years ago when Obama has taking the budget heat from the GOP.
Some stats about the US government:
Now, remove 8 zeroes and pretend it’s a household budget:
- U.S. Tax revenue: $2,170,000,000,000
- Fed budget: $3,820,000,000,000
- New debt: $ 1,650,000,000,000
- National debt: $14,271,000,000,000
- Recent budget cuts: $ 38,500,000,000
- Annual family income: $21,700
- Money the family spent: $38,200
- New debt on the credit card: $16,500
- Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710
- Total budget cuts: $38
Interesting way to look at it
For many a billion is hard enough to comprehend let alone a trillion.
One of the first things that might happen is that when you get old they will grab the home you have paid for and paid taxes on for years. They will give it to a younger family and warehouse your elderly self in an institution with minimal medical care since you are no longer contributing to society but are now a burden. If things keep going towards socialism.Concerning because with the rising debt that no elected official seems to be concerned with combined with the rhetoric coming from the left lately will eventually result in asset seizure of land, homes, cash and various private property by the feds to satisfy the debt for the "greater good" of the country.
