I have a 1911 movie prop. Looks, feels and acts just like a 1911, except the barrell is plugged.

I have a buddy who is really into the Civil War reenactment scene.

He wore his authentic (not a reproduction) uniform and carried his original Springfield rifled musket to a party with his wife, who also dressed the period part. Did not ask, but normally he has a period correct Colt revolver in a holster when he does the historic events, so I would guess that was there also. I would not have seen a problem.

(now I know some of you will say that the BATF does not consider those things "guns" but the general public does as both of them can shoot projectiles at more than minimum lethal velocities.)

I would also bet that other reenactment groups had events where they came in their gear and carried functional weapons from the era they participate in as well.

Would I encourage you to come to a general, nonspecific, costume party in full modern day battle rattle with loaded mags, live smoke grenades, etc.----probably not, LOL.
