BTW, the OP’s favorite was a 1984 Honda 700 Nighthawk, which was my first street bike. Fond memories, but far from my favorite.

My fav is the one I still have. Bought it in 92.

    Honda XR250L.

I could ride it to the MX track. Take off my mirrors and run their course. I had so much fun on that bike. And I ride it all over town.

Not the raw speed of the 2 strokes, but it had power. Of course I was much lighter back then.

I remember some other bikes very fondly but the newer bikes are so much better, at least that’s how I see it.

Three favorites: 1990 US spec RC30. More of a garage queen nowadays. At 66 it’s a bit tougher to squeeze myself into position.

2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000 GT+ (need a shorter name), K5 engine, electronic cruise control and hard bags. Basically a big sport bike ready for long trips.

2023 Ninja 1000SX. Basically the Kawasaki flavor sport tourer. We had a 2012 version and it’s just gotten better with time. Kawasaki keeps smoothing off the rough edges.

Both of the newer bikes are just exceptional for my riding. The Ninja is mostly the wife’s but I sneak in rides when I can.

Old Suzuki 125 with nothing but motor and tank, huge rear tire and geared WAY down. Beat the **** out of it and as long as the carb wasn't full of rust it ran good. Tied some indoor/outdoor carpet behind it to haul my kids across the yards. IIRC paid 50$ for it, sold it for 50$ to neighbor kid.

    Pipe Creek
    2000 Police Road King.
Mostly because of how I got it.
eBay purchase from a popo unit near Salt Lake City UT. To get there from WA was foot, bus, airline, taxi, foot. Epic ride home in one day. Hardly any stops. Gas and lunch, maybe. Zen experience when I got into the ID high country...almost no traffic and everything slowed down, even though I was doing 80 most of the time. I could hear every single exhaust pulse. On through a wildfire near the ID/MT border. Made it to Spokane before dark.

Oh, and it was my first time on a Road King...
