This is on the dps website concerning my renewal

Fingerprints : Prints on file could not be used, notice sent to applicant
Do I have to wait on the letter or can I go have the fingerprints done and sent so I can move forward?
This is my first renewal and I'm ready to pull my hair out. Thanks

That is strange for a renewal. If they accepted the prints the first time, why not now? I'd call them.

Does it maybe have something to do with your original set not being done through an L1 place, and that's why they're no longer acceptable?

My original prints were done the old-fashion way... ink on paper, and I had no issues with my renewal about 6 months ago. People that are coming up for renewal now, got their original CHL some 5 years ago when almost everyone did the ink on paper prints.

Right. I was wondering if maybe DPS changed their procedures so that fingerprints recorded in the old way needed to be redone.
It just seems like the kind of nonsense that typically happens in a bureaucracy.

You probably should just go ahead and have them done again. That will likely be the ultimate resolution.
