    Out here by the lake!
While on safari in africa I came across the track of a Rock Python. I stopped stalking eland to chase after it. Its track was as wide as my thigh. Lost track of it when it got close to water. I really wanted that snake bad! Profession hunter I was with said it was most likely 10 foot long.

I think Florida now holds an annual hunt for those things!

Burmese pythons. African Rock python were never very prevalent in the pet trade as they had a bit of an attitude problem. Burmese pythons are easy going snakes that just about anyone can handle. ARPs are assholes that you better have some experience under your belt if you're going to own one.

What's the difference between a hamster and a gerbil?

I'm pretty sure there's more dark meat on a gerbil.

Last year I killed 13 small copperheads in the lake house yard, cleaned out the overgrown flower beds and rocked them, this year nada ...

This water snake (Northern?) came back for a week to the same spot, despite being thrown back in the water with a boat gaff each morning I went fishing. Not aggressive, but damned stubborn/persistent.

    I believe that's a plain-bellied water snake

We also have diamondback, common, and broad-banded water snakes here in TX. All non-venomous

Last year we found a big ball of copperheads in there doing the nasty, but had nothing with us. Poking at them with the shovel in the corner under the shelves just drove them back out the hole they came in thru. :spank:

I do snake relocations east of Austin and it has been a slow year. So far one rat snake and one checkered garter snake. Been trying to catch a Western Diamondback in the neighbors yard for a few days but it is elusive.

If it stands still for a picture a shotgun is the answer. OR my grandmother favored a razor sharp hoe she used to weed her garden.
