This is why I like rallies better than "NASCAR". There are two people in the vehicle. The driver does not drive the course until they are on the course to race. Before the race, the navigator checks the course and makes notes about the distances, turns, etc. So when they - driver and navigator - drive the course, the navigator tells the driver what is coming up so the driver knows how to react.
