We only had the poor person's version - Compton's. And it included occasional deliberate errors to make a joke. It had gorgeously printed plastic pages in a "Flags of the World" insert. The French flag was shown as a plain white field with no marking. I didn't get the joke until decades later.

I pity my poor cousins. They had an even cheaper set whose name escapes me. I took one down and started to read it a few years ago when my mother died and the wake was going on. That encyclopedia set dated from the 1960s or 70s so I went to the part about the Bill of Rights. The section on the Second was paragraph after paragraph of blatantly editorial anti-gun ranting.

I picked up my niece's 8 year old daughter (my grand daughter on loan) from school one day last week. I was in my 2000 Ford Ranger. As I was rolling up my window she says, "You have to do that to get the window up?"

I do recall taking care of a woman from jail who had stuffed her vagina with bread in an effort to keep from being raped. A coworker refereed to her as the one with the boxed lunch.
