Several years ago I met Ron Jeremy, the porn star. Actually, I briefly met him once, and sat and had a beer with him and several others a second time.

I don't know how it came up, but he was very open about his success in the industry is because of his far less than buff appearance. Like the meme says "false hope" for those of us, I mean those people, that are like that.

Did he also mention that he got lots of work because the single bank used by most of the porn industry to borrow money in the 1990s was named "Ron Jeremy's dentist"?

I think Ron relied too much on his "everyman" shtick when he was really just letting himself go to pot in the midst of the easy money, easy women, and mountains of cocaine.

None of that is helping him work through his currently ongoing rape trials. I've said it before but I'm embarrassed about the time I spent with him. I should have recognized him for the ass he was but I was too blinded by all the shiny baubles in that world to see through to the truth of the thing.

He was buff? I recall seeing him in some flicks about 40 years ago and we laughed that anyone hung like a horse could get into the business. Now I don't recall if he was out of shape, ugly or both back then.

I can see the "everyman shtick" as being "in character" when out in public with the right audience. No, I did not know about any of things you mentioned. I talked with him very little other than to say hello. I listened.
