No actual Texan would ever say "needs more beans".
Either you're cooking chile con carne or if you add beans, you're cooking bean stew.
Just because northeners bastardized the dish does not mean it's authentic. If they want to make bean stew, they should call it "frijoles con carne".

Us poors add beans because meat is expensive. And we don’t give a damn.
