I think my dad seen it as more homemade TV dinners to take to work for him. And realistically a peanut butter sammich was cheaper then what was cooked. My dad was super strict! If he was in town no one ate til he got home and you better eat what was served.
My dad was never home enough to take left overs; when he was home they had a bunch of places to eat inside and outside of his office building. My dad raised us how his parents raised him.I think my dad seen it as more homemade TV dinners to take to work for him. And realistically a peanut butter sammich was cheaper then what was cooked.
I will say this about my dad he wasn’t a cheap phuc eating steak while the kids ate hot dogs. The wife’s parents were these kind of people. I told the wife once they could come over and watch use eat prime rib with cheap hot dogs for them.
My Mom was strict, if you didn't eat what she served you could sit in the closet. I remember my brother asking what was for dinner, he went right into the closet. My dad was super strict! If he was in town no one ate til he got home and you better eat what was served.
My mom was the strict one. Her 'go-to' was an ass beatin' for just about everything. Dad worked 2nd & 3rd shift so he was not around when I was awake. He worked the off-shifts for the shift premium and every minute of overtime he could get just to pay the bills. My Mom was strict, if you didn't eat what she served you could sit in the closet. He hit me once, I hit him back. He did pull mom back one time when she got carried away with the ass beatin'.
