Huge means big. Guy was being chased by police after threatening people with huge (big) knife.

Apparently a 9" blade, sheathed in his backpack, was illegal enough for him to be convicted of:

being in possession of a knife blade or a sharp article in a public place

As insane as that sounds, I did not make it up.

I guess in Cardiff you don't carry a pocket knife if it's bigger than needed to clean under your fingernails.
