Minimum wage was $1.60/hr...

EIGHT TIMES the price of a gallon of regular gasoline....

Rent was $50/month, heat/water included for apartment above the bar. Owner paid me $20/wk to pack beer on Saturday nights/Sunday mornings after closing (I put that on my lunch tab..she made a mean Turkey Devonshire on Thursdays...all her food was good)...

Same apt? Was $1700/month plus utilities in 2017... (late Bride pointed out the listing to me)...

I've been to Topeka. That's got to be the most interesting thing in the city. Perhaps the whole state.

My first job was in 1969 or 1970 washing pots at the local diner. $1.60 an hour including a meal. Gas was $0.28 a gallon. To use the VW I had to fill it.

When I was in college, I could buy about 5 gallons of reg unleaded with an hours pay at minimum wage.
