I've known a few folks with downs syndrome.

There's nothing beyond that. Not disparaging the individuals in the picture. Most people see the people, see "Downs syndrome" - they see the tags of Facebook / Insta - they put the two together - Facebook & Insta went "down".
That's literally it. Nothing beyond that. Nothing jabbing at the people themselves.
Its ok if you don't get the joke or see the humor. Not everyone will make the connection - especially if you weren't aware of the context.
Yep. Some have found success (even financial success) with taking their condition and running with it (and I don't mean in the Special Olympics way) - look at the kiddo behind the Retarded Policeman series. IIRC that opened up legit Hollywood roles to him.
