I keep posting in these hallowed halls that gun owners have it good compared to the "good old days" of yesteryear. The political climate is reasonably friendly, now. The media and every two bit politician in the US used to blast gun owners as stupid barbarians. The tide has changed and the lawmakers know to duck and cover when the subject of the 2nd Amendment comes up. It's about damned time!

I think there are a lot of reasons. While I think that the number of people with this thought is increasing, I don't think the percentage is very high. At least not yet.
