My grandparents were rural poor. Whenever we would visit my dad and I would hunt for our dinner. Rabbits and squirrels were the usual table fare. My granny would soak them in milk for a few hours.

I can't tell you how many times I have wanted to shoot a squirrel to relive that part of my childhood.

Same here.
Started squirrel hunting in earnest at the age of 9, 70 years ago.
That first summer I was the self proclaimed "World's Champion Squirrel Hunter", or so I liked to think.
My Nana would cook all I could bring her as long as I could eat what I bagged ... not a problem, I was accused of having a "hollow leg" to go along with my stomach, and she was a good cook.

I used to love those Gamo sidelever rifles the Olympic shooting team used back in the 1980s. Model 126. Too bad the seals on them self-destructed in short order.

Does anybody still make good sidelevers?

I've got a GAMO Silent Cat in .177 cal I picked up many years ago on a whim.

I honestly haven't shot it much, but one of these days I'll take it out and see what it can do!
