I got the fiancé a new m&p the other day so in trade I get to buy a new handgun. I've been wanting a sig p226 for awhile but Im having alittle trouble deciding on which caliber. 9mm isn't an option for me as I already have a few 9mm's so I'm debating between .40 s&w and .357 sig. This is just for a general defense and fun gun. So I guess what I'm asking is what are your opinions of 40 s&w vs .357 sig?

I don't really notice a recoil difference between .40 and .357sig, but the 357 is noticeably louder. Kinda adds to the fun factor to me, lol. Both .40 and .357sig are kinda expensive to plink with in my opinion. One nice thing with the P226 is that if you want to switch between .40 and .357 all you have to do is to swap factory barrels. The side, frame, and mags are the same for both calibers.
