    It's the jobs report. The idea is that a stronger economy makes the Fed more likely to raise rates, which would make the dollar stronger. Generally, stronger dollar = lower gold and silver.

    Interesting that crude oil has rallied back after dropping this morning. Short term I think that's a better buy than gold because of the carry trade. But who knows.

    Dan, what do you have against 18 and 35? You long some strangles?

    I'm a buyer under $18 and would be a very happier seller at $35. Otherwise I just hold what I have. I might change my mind and buy some more, tho. Anything under $20 is ok really...

    I like silver because I'm too poor to play with gold ;)

    Metals are commodities. If the price gets high enough, it becomes affordable to open up more mines. More stuff mined, prices fall. The prices are - and always will be - cyclic. Be very, very careful of anyone who tries to tell you it's poised to shoot straight up and continue forever. (I've heard the sales pitch.)
