I teach a class at Temple College on Monday nights. It's about a 30-45 minute lecture and then lab time which consists of the students working through the assignment while I bounce around and answer questions. Last night, I was helping another student when Cathy (a good old country kind of gal) raised her hand and said, "When you get a minute, I got a question." By the time I got there, she had figured it out on her own. (Way to go, Cath!) She was feeling kind of smug, so she talked some smack when I walked up: "Okay, Cathy, whatcha got?" "Nope, don't need ya. Ya took too long. Try again next time - just come back later." I thought for just a quick second and put the ball right back in her court. "Okay, no problem. Just let me know if you need me to bring my step-ladder so you can climb down off your high horse." She cracked up, and so did the rest of the class. Have I mentioned that I really enjoy teaching? What good comebacks have y'all come back with?
