Anyone ever done this? A LGS owner told me he buys pallets from Target Sports USA and splits them with friends. He said he gets a 5% discount plus free shipping. I don't specifically see info on their website. I believe a pallet is around 100k rounds so in the neighborhood of $30k.

I'm not sure the savings justifies it. How many cases in a pallet, typically?
Depends on the caliber (500 vs 1000 round cases). I think it's 100,000 rounds per pallet for most cases so 100-200 cases? I'll call Target Sports this week and find out more and if it's even possible. Split amount about 40 people it's doable if the discount is big enough. 40 is a lot of people to find and organize, though.

I'm curious to caliber, brand, and price? If we are able to mix and match that'd be great. I'm looking for 9mm and .223 mostly.

This is the problem. 40 ppl that want ammo? Easy. That want the same caliber? Not too hard. That want the same brand, bullet style, etc.? Difficult.

I have found that when buying a pallet ( either 50k or 100k) it is best to just have 10 people go in on it. Less confusion and clusterfuckery.

    ........Less confusion and clusterfuckery.

You say that as if clusterfuckery is a bad thing!!

Actually thanks for teaching me a new word!!!

    Anyway......

I'd be in something like this were it significantly money-saving.

    My observation in life:
Amongst casual friends $10 or $20 is rarely fought over.
Amongst really close friends $100 one way or another is no reason to squabble.

OTOH $1,000 transactions and up are best left to marriages and contractual transactions.
$10,000.00 deals are life changing when things do not go well.

I don't hesitate to drop $100 or $300 for a backpack weighted by ammo at a gun show.
Trusting casual internet acquaintances with $1,000 and up makes me anxious.

    a. Good idea in principle.
    b. Tough to enact unless done by a really close knit and well organized association.

    Thanks for the thought.

Consider buying the ammo from Copes, one of our fine TGT supporters. Ask for "Free 50" and everything ships for free. $50 minimum.

They also have a deal where they bill you 1/3 each month for 3 months.

Geri posts here all the time. They are nice folks!

Maybe I've been looking in the wrong places, but when I've looked at the cost/round on a pallet vs. the cost/round of a case, there wasn't any significant savings. Maybe if you order 10 pallets direct from the factory there is...
