Hey y'all, this was just posted this morning - a great read! Click the link below for the full article, it's a bit longer. Below is an excerpt and graphic that sort of sums it up.

Gun permits tied to wealth and politics

"...The Texas Tribune, an Austin-based nonprofit news organization, obtained a copy of the data and compared it to income levels and past presidential election results in each ZIP code and voting precinct in Texas.

The Tribune's analysis found the number of gun permits in a neighborhood often correlates with how much money residents make, how they vote and where they live."

There's another article published today, didn't see this at first - it's the record number of CHLs issued since Obama was elected.

After Obama's election, concealed handgun permits surged

"After Barack Obama was elected president, many gun owners feared they were on the verge of losing their Second Amendment rights, and they stocked up on weapons and ammo.

Texans also stocked up on concealed handgun licenses.

In 2009, nearly 139,000 permits were renewed or issued — the most in the history of the state's 15-year-old concealed-handgun law, according to statistics released by the Department of Public Safety."

Bogus, it doesn't account for population denseness.

But spinning it another way. Current CHL costs are too high in time and money paid for lower income families to afford.

Another graphic would be per eligible CHL holder.

And how about add this map? It also makes my point on population density.

Red is White, Blue is Black, Green is Asian, Orange is Hispanic, Gray is Other, and each dot is 25 people. Data from Census 2000

Not Class Warfare, just the facts....There are zombies in all colors, white, brown, red, and black, just as there are fine folks in all colors. It should be apparant to anyone in their area where the crime is highest and by using common sense rather than "they are picking on me simply because I am a (choose a hue)".....The race card is like the measles, keeps popping up here and there and like a broken phonograph record, tayadda, tayadda, tayadda...

Have a good day and smile and say Hello to a friend of another hue.......

Yeah, there's no one carrying guns on the southside of SA...:banghead:

Has anyone stopped to consider how the new vehicle carry laws may have impacted on this? Now that law-abiding citizens can keep a loaded pistol concealed in their car, it may have dissuaded those with lower incomes from shelling out the money for a CHL.

Otherwise, I think there is much ado about nothing here...

Actually I would guess those who can't pass a background check is higher then on would expect, and of course a portion of people who simply don't want to go through the hassle of classes and paper work.
Side note, in past few years it has become more difficult to find recruits for military who can pass a background check.
