    PROPOSED

    TEXAS SHOOTING SPORTS COMPLEX

A Non-Profit Educational and Safety Training Facility

    Learn – Practice - Compete

    · In six days we vote. But on the 7th day we will not “rest”. On Wednesday evening, Nov 3rd, the Hays County Shooting Sports Task Force will present our proposal for the remainder of the 2007 Park Bond funds to the Parks and Open Space Advisory Board (POSAB).

    · The POSAB meeting starts at 6 pm with four proposals to be presented at the San Marcos Activity Center meeting room to the right of the reception desk. Our proposal presentation should start around 7:30.

    · Your Attendance and Participation is solicited to show the POSAB that Hays County citizens support idea the land purchase to provide a county educational and training shooting sports complex. Some Parks and Open Space Advisory board members have been publicly and aggressively adverse to our project from the beginning. They have appeared in court and media to assail our proposal. Those opposed to our proposal will be there and the situation makes your public support critical.

    · This proposal is for the purchase of land located on the Hillert tract, south of San Marcos along the new Loop 110. See the long version of the proposal at http://www.txssc.org/

    · Once purchased, this property can provide a combination shooting sports complex, educational wet land nature trail, river park, and new location for Texas Parks and Wildlife Hunter Education offices. Our project is focused on providing outdoor education and recreation for youth groups and families; and is supported by Texas Parks and Wildlife as a conservation project.

    · BTW: The Hay 4-H Shooting Sports Club finished last year’s competitive season with first in the state for skeet, third and forth for trap, third in sporting clays, and a truck load of trophies from other spring and summer contests. Last weekend 20 Capitol Area Boy Scout leaders were certified as rifle instructors with several from Hays County. These kids need a place to shoot in Hays County!
