Why do Hicksville threads get SO jacked up SOOO quickly?

No seriously, not mad and I'd like answer. The last pre-meet thread went to something like 2K posts before the event. And if you remember, people that were new here and interested in going would say something like "I'm not going to read all that, what are the details?" at post #750. I have to assume they read the thread title and just jumped on at the end w/o going to the OP (cuz they don't know that's where the details are). Maybe not a good example but you catch my drift.
