I don't have one, but a buddy does. He tells me it's built like a tank, and very reliable.

By all accounts, the Hi-Point carbines are probably the only thing they make that are worth anything.

    Crush, kill, mangle, maim, destroy.

I had the opportunity to shoot one in 9mm. It ate a wide variety of ammunition with no problem. The magazine capacity is disappointing and the trigger is what you would expect from a Hi Point but it was fun to shoot. It would be on my short list if I were in the market for a pistol caliber carbine.

    This.

I've shot one in .45. Sights are a little crude but allow reasonable accuracy. Trigger is functional. It's built like an ugly mule.

But it shot fine and when compared to other carbines and the prices it's not a bad buy.

Mag capacity is the biggest drawback, IMO.

Agreed. Not sure on the .45, but the 9mm is only 10 rounds and they go quick. I did buy an aftermarket 15? round mag for it (I believe it was a Promag). Downside for it was the excessive extra length, harder to latch, didn't hold the bolt open (IIRC factory mags hold open), and it was finicky on feeding whereas the factory mag had none of these problems.

A good friend of mine recently bought the HiPoint carbine in .40, so he could use the same ammo as his two HK pistols. He put a red dot on it and loves it. Again, the mag capacity is low, but he hasn't had a lick of trouble with the carbine otherwise.

Other than low mag. capacity and an absolute P.I.T.A. to field strip/clean, I'd have one or three of 'em.
