Some friends and I are wanting to hunt some Hogs. Does anyone have a good spot that charges a price? We are stationed at Ft. Hood so somewhere near by would be even better but im sure we can drive alittle

If you feel like drivin a few hours I have a buddy that is a outfitter that does hog hunts in victoria texas (its within the mileage radius). I am also stationed at hood and will be back to the "Great Place" in about a month. A few of my buddies are doin a hog hunt a hour and half away, they go 6-10times a year for 175 for the whole weekend. What have they shot a couple rabbits and one of their dogs that jumped out of the truck. My buddy is doin a special on groups of 4. 250 a day to hunt hogs out of stands over feeders. He is prior service and will make sure you get on hogs. If your interested his website is longersoutdoors.com

We went on a central Tx hog hunt last weekend. Only hunted one day, a PM hunt on day of arrival, and a AM hunt the next morning. Three of us shot six hogs. I got three and my wife got two and my son got one. Smallest was 100 lbs and the two biggest were 148 lbs each. Lots of hogs there. Many much bigger than what we shot.
We hunted at Keechi Creek Ranch (Keechi Creek Outfitters). Mike and Carol are gracious, lovely people. We did the High Roller hunt so it was a little expensive, but worth it. There are much cheaper hunts available.

Smaller ones aren't as tough, I like'em about 60-100 lbs for best eaten, but they're all good.

Do ya'll generally find those feral hogs fit to eat, or do you even try?
We cooked some of the back straps on the smoker with BBQ sauce, low and slow, this weekend. Had a fairly large number of people here for a cook out. The back straps came out delicious! Also had four broiler halves of well marinated chicken on the smoker which were also quite good.
The rest of the meat we had taken to a meat processor (Kuby's in Dallas) to have made into varoius sausages, a couple of roasts, and some pork steaks but haven't got back yet.
    Feral hogs=yummy!
Javalinas=yucky! Won't eat those nasty things, but some people do.
