Walked up on a herd of hogs last night using my new PVS-14 night vision. Shot the first one (biggest boar), and the others ran off. About a minute later the boar started squealing and the others turned around and started running back towards me. Needless to say I was starting to get nervous, since I was by myself in the middle of a pasture, pitch black outside, with no trees or cover nearby. When the herd (about 12 or so) got about 50 yards away I shot the second one, they turned and ran beside me and I killed the third one before the others finally ran off.
With the 762SDN-6 silencer I think they have a hard time figuring out where the shots came from. This is not the first time I have had hogs run almost towards me after I shot one using a silencer.

Barrel is 8 inches. As for as range, at night I try to get closer than 100 yards due to the night vision. During the day I would be comfortable making shots on hogs out to maybe 200 yards. Main limitation is the EoTech. With a scope you could extend the range more.

Thanks, I'm trying to narrow it down between an 8 or a 10 inch barrel. I'm thinking either would be nice and handy in a blind but I wonder how much velocity the shorter barrel gives up.

This is just a rough guesstimate using Quickload, 110 grain Barnes TTSX, 21 grains H110.

    16" barrel-2369 fps
    14" barrel-2308 fps
    12" barrel-2234 fps
    10" barrel-2139 fps
    8" barrel-2014 fps

Thanks. It really doesn't give up too much at all even from 8 to 16. I'm liking this round. Seems pretty effective on the pigs too.

    That is so cool.
I really want to do that and with a supressor AND night vision >> couldn't be better (well maybe copter-hoggin' might come close).
