I was wondering what parts I would need to hook up an old school bell(50s-60s). So that when my shop door opens it triggers the bell.

My understanding is I need the correct power source, a trigger, and the bell. Correct?

Is there a book maybe I can read up on?

It's a pretty basic electric circuit. Not sure what power that type of bell would need... possibly something odd like 48v, you'd have to check. Also, depending on the current load (probably high since those are mechanical) you would need to use a relay as well. You could use a basic magnetic contact switch on the door.

Would be easy enough to draw up the circuit if you need it.
