Houston passed over for retiring space shuttle | AP Texas News | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle

"Mitchell said President Obama's re-election bid factored into NASA's choosing locations in Florida and California. Houston Mayor Annise Parker struck a similar tone, saying the decision was largely expected since the White House hinted "Houston would not be a winner in this political competition.""

I really wondered how Houston could NOT be getting a Shuttle ... it and the Cape in Florida appeared to be the most logical choices.

For all that the City of Houston has done for the Space Program, plus having NASA and Space Center there. One would think Houston would be a logical choice. Goes to show we don't have a President who makes logical choices.

We got a mercury redstone, LM, apolo capsule, apolo-soyuse, shuttle cockpit mockup and a Saturn V plus a ton of other crap in local museums and "kiddy land" next to JSC. I think that's good enough... When was the last time any of you guys saw them? If we did get it they would put it in a big box at JSC and charge you $20.00 to get into space center Texas plus about $25 for the tram ride to look inside the box. Then you would be bitching about that.
