    I am selling my maverick 88 to a guy who said he's giving it to his 16 year old son. Is this ok for me to sell it to him knowing he's giving it to a minor? Need an answer quick. Gonna sell it tonight. Thanks

    I think so. I don't see how it makes a difference. Unless you know his son to be legally restricted from owning a fire arm. My dad gave me my single shot 20 ga when I was 16.

    I was about 7 when I got my first 22 rifle. That was a long time ago. I hope to God a dad can still give his kid a gun.

    In Texas, purchase or possession is age 18.

    Texas Penal Code - Section 46.06. Unlawful Transfer Of Certain Weapons - Texas Attorney Resources - Texas Laws

    Penal code 46.06
    (2) intentionally or knowingly sells, rents, leases,
    or gives or offers to sell, rent, lease, or give to any child
    younger than 18 years any firearm, club, or illegal knife;

    Be sure to read it all;

    (c) It is an affirmative defense to prosecution under
    Subsection (a)(2) that the transfer was to a minor whose parent or
    the person having legal custody of the minor had given written
    permission for the sale or, if the transfer was other than a sale,
    the parent or person having legal custody had given effective
    consent.
    So the OP is good to go. He is not selling it to the child, so he needs nothing in writnig
