    I was given 3/4 full can of some Mil-Surplus ammo, I'm trying to ID what it is.

    If you turn the primer end to the upright (normal reading) position it has 22 above the primer and 72 below. I was given this with the purchase of a couple of Mossins but this is not the ammo for these guns. What it isn't, 7 X 57, .308, 7.62 x 39, 30-30, .270 or .223. I don't have way to measure the bullet, but it appears to be steel cased polymer, the bullet and cartridge itself is visually larger than the 7.62 X 54r, maybe some type of 8mm?

    It's 8mm Mauser, the top number (22) indicates it's Romanian and the lower date is the year of manufacture (see examples below)...it's steel cased and 154 grain...
