I think I got lied to and im not happy

My truck had hail damage last spring and had it repaired at a good place..owner is a good man
No problem there.

But his secretary called me asking to buy my toolbox after insurance told them to replace mine due to a good size dent

She said she really wanted it for her son and how he really needed it.

I let her have it for $200..
It's a $800 box new
She paid me..it was between me and her only.
Owner of the place not involved

Now I see her listing it on FB Marketplace in Abilene for $500

Well..ain't that special.?

I wished I was part of a large group of people who might want to contact her and ask if it's still available..you know..just to be annoying.

Not planting any seeds or anything...

It just pisses me off after that sob story about her son just needing it and how he is struggling and he could really use it..

I should have popped out the dent and kept the darn thing.

I really hope it wasn't a lie or scam and maybe her son just didn't want it ..

How long between when you sold it and she listed it? I guess it doesn't matter that much but if it's been a few months, maybe her son really didn't want it. If it's been a week, she's scammin. It'd piss me off too but I'd probably just let it go. Hell, take it out on us if you need to. We can take it. Fire away...

What joker is buying a weathered and used truck box for $500? Is it just my sticker shock or is that price a bit hopeful? I understand they're ~$800-1000 new but are people really spending that kind of cash on a metal box when there are similar boxes for $350 new?

If your insurance paid you $800 for a new one, and you sold that one for $200, whats the problem again? You agreed to the deal and you wouldn't have thought about it again had you not seen her listing. Who knows, she might end up listing that box 10 times before it "walks off" from the repair shop.

I’d be watching that account like a hawk for similar things coming up; this is a bit of an insurance scam. She has insider knowledge.
