I was out camping on a friends land this weekend. he has a nice 17 acre plot west of the Austin metro in the hill country. While we were hiking around his land we came across this mound. I actually looked pretty knowledgeable because I did point out there were tracks near the mount. Now, I didn't get pictures of the tracks (sorry) but they did look to be bobcat tracks. Too small for a cougar (I think,) but it was definitely a feline and way too large for a feral. They were about 2 yards away from the mound. Any idea what makes these?

Could be a feral cat, the are not usually smart enough to burrow under a tree or side of small hill. Cat may have been run off by another critter. They usually did a shallow hole and bed down for the night unless that are hoping to hand around if there is a food source. If there is they will look for an abandoned Possum, dillo or ground squirrel dug out.
