Purpose for this thread is to enlist your thoughts to help one gain a better understanding of the many different "ism" ideologies such as: liberalism, conservativism, capitalism, socialism, fascism, imperialism, communism, marxism, etc. In what ways are any of these related? In what ways are they different?

Maybe these things are too broad to be contained in one thread, i don't know.

Maybe you can point me to websites that help explain these things?

I'm not big into social media but what led me to making this post was my search on YouTube to try and understand, what is TikToc and why might it get banned. This led me to a YT channel called "Second Thought" where I was having difficulty understanding where this guy stands - he seems to admit to being a socialist and he seems to make a distinction of socialism away from liberalism, which confounded me.

Your thoughts about all these things please?

For most people it is simple, if they don't agree it's bad. While there are similarities between some of the "ism's" there are differences as well. You are about to go down the rabbit hole in the quest for knowledge. Remember when you are learning about someone's beliefs learn it from a source that is a true believer before you look at a outside source. Sometimes I can see where they are coming from even if I can't agree. In the end you probably won't change your mind on much but you will have a greater understanding. Sometimes that is all we can hope to achieve.

    Interesting thread.

The thing about 'isms' is that there are varying ideas within each one even if they're based in a structured doctrine, like Marxism based on Karl' words; or even documents, like the US Constitution.

Might be the best you can do is search for the 'source' the ism is based on, compare those if need be, and go from there to evaluate the variations.

Or, you could go fishing. :)
