I've always used Comp-Tac paddle holsters for IDPA. They are based in Houston and the owner frequently shoots IDPA.

+1 for Comp-Tac... I use the paddle holster and dual mag pouch for IDPA.

Outstanding quality and incredible turn-around time. As mentioned above, Comp-Tac is local, actively participates, and supports the sport. I can't think of one reason not to get a Comp-Tac product.

I really like the Comp-tac belt holster. Stays in place for me better than the paddle holster. I have one that I wore in Iraq for over three years.
    Excellent rig for the money.

I use a plain Fobus holster and it works just fine for me dont forget a mag pouch it will save you a bunch of time compared to pockets.Academy usually sells the holster for $25 bucks. I dont carry my IDPA gun OWB so I didn't want to spend a lot on a holster.
As far as Comp-Tac EXCELLENT I use a Minotaur for conceal carry.

Blade Tech Revolution holster gets you into an IDPA holster for less than $30. I have the regular Blade Tech kydex as well and can't tell a difference in drawing from either one. Great beginner holster.
